ENGLAND NETBALL APPOINTS INTERIM CEO

England Netball, the sport’s governing body in England, appointed Paul Clark as interim chief executive with effect from March 20, 2007.

Clark will work three days per week in this role as the association seeks to identify a full time replacement for chief executive Leslie Ross, who leaves her position at the end of March, to return to the private sector, after being in charge of England Netball since the beginning of May 2006.

Clark is an appointed director of England Netball’s Board and is currently the managing director of Tandridge Leisure Limited, as well as chairman of the Active Surrey Sports partnership.

The Board of England Netball is continuing to work with senior staff to ensure that the governing body’s organisational structure meets the evolving and developing needs of the Association and its members effectively.

Cheryl Danson, Chairman of England Netball, said, “netball in England is enjoying unprecedented visibility and growth, thanks to the success of the Netball Superleague and other competitions, as well as the work which the Association is conducting at grass roots level. As we continue to embed regionalisation and meet our financial challenges as a non-Olympic sport, it is crucial that consistently strong leadership is provided by the Chief Executive and the non-executive members of the Board. Paul’s appointment to this key role will ensure that the Association’s development continues without delays, and we are confident that he will steer us through this challenging period and provide a steady pair of hands.”
