THREAT TO AUSSIE TOUR OF ZIMBABWE

Cricket Australia is to hold talks with government chiefs over plans to tour Zimbabwe later this year, amid renewed fears over security after a new wave of political violence in the African nation.

Australia, currently favourites to win the ICC Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean, are due to travel to Zimbabwe in September.

Foreign minister Alexander Downer said: “Once the World Cup is over, we'll talk to the Australian cricket board about this.

“The final decision rests with them and the International Cricket Council.”
