ENGLISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION TV BIDS IN TODAY

The deadline for bids for the FA’s TV rights packages is midday today and all major UK broadcasters are understood to have bid.

Public-service broadcaster the BBC and pay-broadcaster BSkyB will be making complementary offers which should ensure those networks keep the majority of their present rights for England matches and the FA Cup.

Commercial channels ITV and Five as well as pay-broadcaster Setanta are expected to make rival bids, but not of the size necessary to upset the BBC and Sky combination.

The FA is expected to bring in around £400 million from the rights portfolio.
