POLAND AND UKRAINE CONFIRM EURO 2012 COMMITMENT

The presidents of Poland and Ukraine confirmed their 100 per cent commitment to do everything necessary to help their respective Football Associations to secure the rights to host the UEFA EURO Championships in 2012.

President Kaczynski of Poland was meeting with President Yushchenko of Ukraine to discuss a number of issues affecting the two neighbouring countries as well as their joint bid to host the European football championships in 2012.

Both Presidents stressed the fantastic opportunity that EURO2012 could represent for both their countries, and confirmed that they will do everything that is needed to support and win the bid, in order to give the tournament in Poland and Ukraine more importance and space than ever before.

With this in mind, President Yushchenko was able to report that last week a new law had been tabled in the Ukrainian parliament “About organisation and hosting of the Final Tournament of the European Football Championships 2012 in Ukraine”. This new law will come into force shortly and will deal with such issues as visa regime, work permits, currency exchange during the period of the event and will also provide new regulations to cover such important issues as ambush marketing and unauthorised ticket sales.

Poland and Ukraine are bidding against a bid from Italy and a joint bid from Hungary and Croatia to host the UEFA EURO 2012.
