FIAT TO SPONSOR YAMAHA IN TWO-YEAR DEAL

Italian carmaker FIAT agreed a two-year deal to be title sponsor of Valentino Rossi's Yamaha MotoGP team.

Yamaha said at an official launch in Milan that the team would be known as the FIAT Yamaha team. The 2007 season starts in Qatar on Saturday. "It's a new start for us - a new bike, a new sponsor and a new challenge as we try to win back the title," said team director Davide Brivio in a statement.

Dorna Sports, MotoGP’s commercial rights owner, has been working hard to help the teams win new sponsors. It is to invite two members from each of the 12 teams in MotoGP to attend the workshop in Barcelona on April 12 to work on how best to present MotoGP to potential sponsors.
