BMW Group NZ Managing Director, Mark Gilbert said that the NZ PGA is a major highlight in the New Zealand sporting calendar.
"We know a large number of BMW drivers are avid golf fans and the New Zealand PGA is the premier golfing event in this country so we are very proud to be associated with it," he said.
Bob Tuohy, tournament chairman of the HSBC New Zealand PGA, said that to have two such prestigious international brands as BMW and HSBC associated with the New Zealand PGA Championship was great for the tournament. "It really does indicate the importance of the tournament. This is only the fourth year since the PGA Championship was revived and it is going from strength to strength," he said.
Outside of golf, BMW 's other high-profile sporting involvements include BMW Oracle Racing in their bid for the Americas Cup and the BMW Formula 1 Sauber Team.
