English Premier League club Manchester United appointed Michael Bolingbroke as the club’s first-ever chief operations officer.

Bolingbroke will work alongside chief executive David Gill from May. Gill will continue to oversee operations at the club, while Bolingbroke will take specific responsibility for the day-to-day finance, IT, human resources, and legal and property services.

The 41-year-old has an accountancy background and most recently was vice president at modern-day circus Cirque du Soleil.
