Spanish banking giant Santander is being tipped to emerge as the new title rights holder of the British Formula One Grand Prix.

Reports suggest the finishing touches are being put to a £6m deal which will see the race – previously sponsored by beer brand Foster’s – become the Santander British Grand Prix.

Reports in the UK media suggest the deal will help protect the race’s future on the F1 calendar – and distance itself from alcohol sponsorship.

Race chiefs have so far refused to confirm or deny the speculation.
