NLL matches began airing in 42 countries throughout Europe on Eurosport2 last season, and coverage has now expanded to Australia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore on Eurosport World, bringing the total to fifty.
NLL coverage on Eurosport began in early January and includes a televised game of the week for seventeen weeks, consisting of fifteen regular season games, plus the All-Star Game and Championship Game. The broadcasts will air into the month of May.
Said Brandon Davis, media development manager for Crocmedia, the agency that manages the NLL’s international television distribution: “We are delighted that Eurosport has seen fit to expand its commitment to the NLL.
“Now fans throughout the southern hemisphere will get a chance to latch on to the hype surrounding lacrosse.”
Also, the NLL and Eurosport have announced the extension of their broadcast agreements through the 2008 season.
Added Emmanuel Mendibure, rights acquisitions manager for Eurosport: “We are delighted to renew a deal with the NLL for seasons 2007 and 2008. The European audience and Lacrosse fans will be thus able to follow matches of the NLL in live or delayed per season in exclusivity on Eurosport2. No doubt that the extensive coverage of the NLL on Eurosport2 and on Eurosport websites will contribute to raise the profile of the sport and will contribute to its future developments in Europe.”
