Organisers of the Beijing Olympic Games say they have been deluged by applications to act as volunteers during the 2008 event.
More than 320,000 have registered - with Beijing chiefs saying those capable of speaking foreign languages given top priority.
Over a quarter of million the applicants came from Beijing – with 4,000 employees of foreign-run businesses in the city also putting their names forward.
Only 70,000 volunteers for the Games and 30,000 for the Paralympics are actually required.
