SPORTFIVE APPOINTED FOR THE XV PAN AMERICAN GAMES

The Organising Committee for the XV Pan American Games Rio 2007 (CO-RIO) appointed the Sportfive agency as its exclusive agent for the worldwide distribution of the media rights for this year’s Pan American Games.

Under the deal, agreed by the Organising Committee’s marketing agency Olympo Marketing and Licenciamento, Sportfive will be responsible for negotiations with broadcasters worldwide (with the exception of host country Brazil).

Leonardo Gryner, CEO of Olympo Marketing and Licenciamento said, “We have appointed Sportfive as our sales agent and we are certain that this partnership will produce excellent results for the Games.”

“The Pan American Games have become a major event in the world’s sports calendar,” commented Carlos Arthur Nuzman, President of CO-RIO. “We welcome SPORTFIVE on board to lead negotiations with broadcasters on our behalf and to support us in promoting the media exposure of the Games.”

The Pan American Games take place every four years, and are always held one year before the Olympic Games. Over more than 50 years, the Pan American Games never failed to occur. They have been growing in size and importance, doubling in number of countries, athletes, and sports, to becoming one of the main events in the world's sports calendar. In Rio de Janeiro 5,500 athletes will represent 42 countries.
