DE VOS IS NEW UK ATHLETICS CHIEF

The chief executive of English rugby union Premiership champions the Sale Sharks and former commercial director of the 2002 Commonwealth Games has been unveiled as the new chief executive of UK Athletics – the sports’ domestic governing body.

Niels de Vos will take over the role in May, replacing the exiting David Moorcroft who quits the job on Friday.

Former athletic Moorcroft announced he was to step down in September after nine years in the post.

UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner will fill the role temporarily until de Vos takes over.

Warner said: “De Vos has valuable experience managing organisations within elite sport. He knows what it takes to operate in a successful environment and to inspire others.”
