LEAGUE CONFIRMS EXPANSION TALKS

The British Basketball League has confirmed it is in talks to expand the league to 16 clubs for next season – with all ten of the current teams signed up for the expansion season.

Eight clubs are currently in discussions to join the league – depleted after teams from London, Birmingham and Brighton all withdrew last summer.

However, London Towers have hinted they could return for the 2007/08 season.

BBL chairman Paul Blake said: “We're keen to reach our target of 16 teams as quickly as possible, but we won't compromise on the standard of franchise permitted."
