The organisers of Formula One’s Bahrain Grand Prix secured its long-term future, signing an extended contract with Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone.
Under the new deal it is understood Bahrain will remain on the Formula One calendar for a further five years until 2013. Its original deal was due to expire after 2008.
The Bahrain circuit at Sakhir hosted its first race in April 2004.
Abu Dhabi is also expected to host a race from 2009.
