NEW SPONSOR FOR SOUTH ATHLETICS ATHLETICS

Athletics South Africa (ASA) agreed a deal with Yellow Pages to become its national sponsor for the domestic track and field season.

Under the deal, the national competition will be named the Yellow Pages Ultimate Athletics competition. The President of ASA, Leonard Chuene said the deal heralds the beginning of an exciting three years of performance by local athletes.

Yellow Pages have made a massive investment into domestic track and field, which will give the sport a much deserved boost. Track and field has been without a sponsor for the past two years.

The first event of the Yellow Pages Ultimate Athletics competition takes place on January 26 at Secunda Sports Stadium in Mpumalanga. It will then proceed to the PUK McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom on February 2, before advancing to NMMU Athletics Stadium South Campus in Port Elizabeth on February 9.

On February 17 the competition goes to De Jager Sport Complex in Oudsthoorn, and at Maties Stellenbosch AC, Stellenbosch on March 2. The competition will end in Tshwane's Pilditch Stadium on March 9.
