DARTS LEAGUE SOARS WITH SKY

UK satellite and digital channel Sky Sports has extended its coverage contract of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC)’s Premier League Darts until the end of 2010.

The competition has proved a hit since launching two years ago and expanded this year to include eight players chasing a £265,000 prize fund.

Venues hosting the competition have also been increased.

Said PDC chairman Barry Hearn: “This is tremendous news and reflects the popularity of the Premier League Darts as well as the high standard of Sky Sports' coverage.

“We are also looking to take Premier League Darts to Holland in 2008 as the event continues to grow in size.”

The 2007 Holsten Premier League Darts begins on February 1.
