He joins as senior advisor for baseball operations, and will recruit, place and mentor prospective professional players for the firm based in Washington DC.
Currently representing the NBA referees and a number of NFL players, Perennial is well-established in major American sports, and it hopes DeShields will further the company's reach in baseball.
Said Lamell McMorris, managing partner of the firm: “His years in the league have afforded him a great eye for talent, and a true sense of what tools a player needs to flourish in professional baseball. His relationships in the sport are deep."
DeShields retired from the Chicago Cubs in 2002, after 13 years in MLB.
