DESHIELDS SIGNS FOR AGENCY

Former Major League Baseball star Delino DeShields has joined up with US player representation agency Perennial Sports and Entertainment.

He joins as senior advisor for baseball operations, and will recruit, place and mentor prospective professional players for the firm based in Washington DC.

Currently representing the NBA referees and a number of NFL players, Perennial is well-established in major American sports, and it hopes DeShields will further the company's reach in baseball.

Said Lamell McMorris, managing partner of the firm: “His years in the league have afforded him a great eye for talent, and a true sense of what tools a player needs to flourish in professional baseball. His relationships in the sport are deep."

DeShields retired from the Chicago Cubs in 2002, after 13 years in MLB.
