BOA EXTENDS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE AOC

The British Olympic Association (BOA) and Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) agreed to extend the close links between the two organisations in the period running up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Agreement was signed in Sydney by BOA Chairman Lord Colin Moynihan and AOC President John Coates just prior to the start of the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF), at which over 100 promising young British athletes will compete.

Team GB is supported by Visa at its first appearance at AYOF and the invitation to compete at the event is part of the Agreement.

Lord Moynihan said, “We are pleased to formalise our excellent relationship with the AOC through this Agreement. As the host National Olympic Committee for the London 2012 Olympic Games, we look forward to receiving input from the AOC on its experience in connection with the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Similarly, for the London 2012 Olympics, we will assist the AOC to identify suitable sports facilities and accommodation for pre-Games training in Great Britain. I am sure that we will be able to exchange ideas and best practices in many more areas.”
