IMG ACQUIRES OCTAGON CSI - REPORTS

Industry sources and media reports say that IMG has acquired rival TV rights and production company Octagon CSI.

Octagon CSI had been bought out of the Interpublic Group owned sports marketing major by its management in a deal heralded by a letter of intent signed late last year.

Rick Dudley, Octagon Worldwide CEO, told SportBusiness that the CSI operation was no longer a strategic fit with the remainder of his re-focussed business.

CSI has a portfolio of rights to sell for clients including the FA and cricket boards. These compliment those held by IMG, which include IRB Rugby World Cup. CSI’s production arm is small in comparison with IMG media, billed as the world’s biggest production company, and is likely to be absorbed.
