PRUDENTIAL NAMING RIGHTS FOR NEW JERSEY DEVILS

Financial services company Prudential agreed a $105.3 million deal for naming rights for the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

Under the 20-year deal the future Newark home of the New Jersey Devils will be known as the Prudential Center. The new building is set to open in time for the 2007-08 season.

The Devils currently play at the Continental Airlines Arena in the Meadowlands Sports Complex. The team moved to New Jersey from Colorado prior to the 1982-83 season.

The current lease with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which runs the Meadowlands, expires after the 2006-07 campaign.
