GAA SET TO NEGOTIATE SINGLE SPONSORSHIP

Ireland’s Gaelic Athletic Association could align the currently separate sponsorship of the All-Ireland football and hurling championships and negotiate them as a single package for 2008.

The current sponsorship arrangements with the Bank of Ireland and Guinness expire in September and it is being suggested in some quarters that the GAA may wish to tender them from 2008 as a single contract.

"We aligned the Guinness hurling championship with the Bank of Ireland so their contracts will end in 2007," said President Nickey Brennan. "We’re reviewing the sponsorship model with the view of moving forward and perhaps having a different one in 2008."
