PYEONGCHANG TEES UP WIE TO BOOST BID

One of the biggest names in the women’s golf game has given Korean city Pyeongchang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games a massive boost.

Teenage sensation Michelle Wie has accepted the role of honorary president of the city’s bid. Her parents are from South Korea.

Chairman of the bid committee, Han Seung-soo, said: “She has already achieved so much in her short career and is a great role model for women in sport in Korea and around the world.

“It is talented, committed athletes of Michelle's generation who could be competing for medals in Pyeongchang in 2014.”
