Brazil will not be the only South American country bidding to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup – after Colombia revealed it will officially lodge its bid with soccer’s governing body this week.
Brazil, hot favourites to host the event, had been expected to go unopposed.
But at a meeting tomorrow CONMEBOL officials will present a letter to FIFA outlining its intention to bid for the event.
South America has been designated as host continent for the 2014 tournament as part of FIFA’s rotational policy.
