BLATTER IN BRAZIL 2014 WARNING

Tagged in , &

FIFA will award the 2014 soccer World Cup to another continent if Brazil’s bid to bring the tournament to South America is not up to scratch.

Under rotation policy, the continent is due to host the 2014 event, with Brazil long touted as hot favourites.

A situation enhanced by virtue it is likely to be the only country bidding for the event. It officially lodged its intention to bid last week.

But critics have warned Brazil’s facilities and infrastructure are not capable of staging it.

It has prompted FIFA president Sepp Blatter to make it clear that if Brazil’s bid is not good enough the governing body will look elsewhere.

Blatter is reported as saying: “There are so many countries on the starting blocks to organise a World Cup - both in and outside of that region. But I am sure Brazil will do everything necessary to host the event.”
