LONDON TO BECOME OLYMPIC CONFERENCE CAPITAL

London will become the centre of attention for the global Olympic community in late January and early February as experts from around the world lead two essential conferences.

PMP’s Legacy Lives conference (January 30 – 31) will be followed by the SportBusiness Olympic Sponsorship Opportunities Conference on February 1.

Each conference has a unique remit and both will play a key role in developing understanding of the benefits and opportunities presented by hosting the Olympic Games.

Olympic Sponsorship Opportunities is being staged for the UK ’s business community and will be addressed by speakers including Chris Townsend, Commercial Director of the London 2012 Organising Committee. The one-day conference will draw upon the insight and expertise of the world’s leading sponsorship consultants and past Olympic sponsors to present an analysis of the benefits of association with the Games and a framework for assessing value and decision making. Key speakers include Tom Shepard, Executive Vice President of International Marketing, Partnerships and Sponsorship, VISA and Steven Keith, Director Olympic Activation, Petro Canada

Legacy Lives will attract a specialist international audience and examines the enduring benefits of hosting an Olympic Games, long after the show has left town. Legacy is an increasingly important element of the Games hosting equation and is a significant consideration when embarking on a bidding and hosting programme. Key speakers include Brian Newman, CEO , Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Bruce Dewar CEO , 2010 Legacies Now and David Higgins, Chief Executive, Olympic Delivery Authority

Phil Savage, Director of SportBusiness Conferences said: “that London should stage two significant conferences back-to-back is indicative of the growing interest in the Olympic Games and the opportunities they present. There is a genuine concern among the business community and civic authorities to fully understand the scale and range of opportunities available and to maximize the business and social benefits of the London Games of 2012.”
