ANSON NAMED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF ATP EUROPE

The ATP, governing body of the men’s professional tennis appointed Andy Anson as chief executive of ATP Europe.

Anson, presently commercial director of Manchester United will take up his new position with the ATP in April where he replaces outgoing CEO Horst Klosterkemper, who has overseen the European region since 2004.

Anson, 42, comes to the ATP with an extensive background in sports marketing and branding, including, as well as a successful tenure with Manchester United, spells at Channel 4 Television in the UK and with The Walt Disney Company.

As commercial director of Manchester United his role includes oversight of all the club’s commercial activities including sponsorship, marketing, merchandising, media and international business development. He has overseen a significant increase in the club’s commercial revenues since joining the organization in 2004 with deals including the £56.5 million AIG shirt sponsorship – a record in British football.
