Tagged in &

The Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOC) inaugurated the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) which will welcome more than 1,800 rights-holding broadcasters and 2,000 host broadcaster staff during the Games.

The IBC will host 20 rights holders while another 40 rights holding broadcasters around the world will be serviced by satellite feeds from the facility.

"Compared to an Olympics, of course, it's much smaller. (But) in terms of quality and standard, it's Olympics quality," said DAGOC Director of Broadcast and Media Services Patrick Furlong at the launch by DAGOC Deputy Director-General of Corporate Support Ahmed Al-Khulaifi.

The IBC will be the operational hub for the host Doha Asian Games Broadcasting Service (DAGBS), which will provide over 2,000 hours of programming to 50 countries and regions with an anticipated cumulative audience of over 1.5 billion viewers.

The Doha Asian Games will offer High Definition Television (HDTV) of the opening and closing ceremonies as well as for athletics, swimming, diving and gymnastics.
