FRENCH LEAGUE DEBUTS AT SOCCEREX

The French Professional League “LFP” has set up an Official Delegation to attend the international football convention of Soccerex 2006 in Dubai for the first time.

In its domestic market, the value of the French Championship “Le championnat de Ligue 1” has increased tremendously: in 2004, the LFP signed the then biggest TV domestic football TV rights deal with the French broadcaster Canal Plus for €600 million per season. In 2005, the LFP signed a deal worth €30 million with the global telecommunication company, Orange, for the mobile rights and title-sponsorship.

On the international market, the distribution of “Le championnat de Ligue 1” has also grown: the number of countries covered has increased from 70 to 146 in 3 years, and the number of broadcasters has tripled up to 52.

The LFP will attend Soccerex with representatives of some of the French top clubs: Olympique Lyonnais, Paris-Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, and Girondins de Bordeaux.
