McConnell, who is currently working on next year’s Rugby World Cup in France, will deliver a presentation which focuses on the importance of developing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships between rights owning federations and local organising committee
McConnell will examine the demanding and fast developing role of host broadcaster service providers when he addresses the inaugural International Event Management Conference in London next week.
He joins a line-up including Heinz Palme, head of event management for FIFA World Cup 2006, Nigel Rushman, Event Director for next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies and Paul Deighton, CEO of the London 2012 Olympic Games Organising Committee.
Organisers expect to shortly announce the participation of a speaker who will focus on the delivery of the 2006 Ryder Cup at Ireland’s K Club.
Speakers will be available to meet audience members and answer questions at networking breaks across the two day conference.
The conference, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre on November 22 and 23, will examine in detail many of the specialist roles, disciplines and functions which are required to deliver a successful sports event.
Delegates from a range of federations, facility owners, local authorities and consultancies from around the world have signed up for the two-day programme.
ISEM has been developed to deliver key information and contacts to all those involved in hosting and managing sports events and the companies which service and supply them. These include sports event managers, promoters, International Federations, Local Organising Committees, Governing Bodies and the suppliers of the services, facilities and equipment which make the difference between success and failure.
