NEW DEAL ENDS INDIA CRICKET WORLD CUP FEAR

Tagged in , &

The International Cricket Council signed a new contract with the Indian Cricket Board ending fears that India would not host the 2011 World Cup.

Doubts had persisted over the hosting of the event after India's cricket board had objected to the members' participation agreement (MPA), covering major tournaments.

But after concessions were agreed during an ICC board meeting a new members' agreement was put in place that will run from 2007-15 and cover 18 major events, including two World Cups, three Champions Trophy tournaments and the first two Twenty20 World Championships.

India is scheduled to host the 2011 World Cup final, with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh hosting other games in the tournament.
