NBA ADDS RECORD 24 BROADCAST PARTNERS

The National Basketball Association added 24 broadcasters, including 19 in Greater China, for the 2006-07 season, marking the largest season to season growth in league history.

Overall, the NBA will reach fans in 215 countries in 41 languages via a record 188 broadcasters.

This season, the NBA’s coverage and reach in China has grown substantially as the number of broadcasters increased from 32 to 51. Additionally, the NBA extended partnerships with CCTV, China’s national television network, Beijing TV, Guangdong TV and Shanghai TV.

While CCTV provides national coverage of the NBA, the new agreements have increased regional coverage with NBA content now reaching all four Municipalities, all five Autonomous Regions and 20 of 22 Provinces in mainland China. Last season the NBA’s regional coverage reached 12 of 22 provinces and two of five Autonomous Regions.

The NBA has new agreements with the following 25 first time telecasters: SiTV, SiTV(HD), Heilongjiang TV, Inner Mongolia TV, Gansu TV, Guizhou TV, Hainan TV, Jilin TV, Jinshan TV, Ningxia TV, Tibet TV, Xishuang Banna TV, Xuzhou TV and Yinchuan TV (China), Canal 7 (Argentina), CT2 and CT4 Sport (Czech Republic); Channel 7 (Dominican Republic); TV3 (Ghana); ET-1 and Sport+ (Greece); Guatevision (Guatemala); TV Sport (Romania); CTS and PTS (Taiwan).

In addition to the extensions with CCTV, Beijing TV, Guangdong TV and Shanghai TV in China, the NBA has extended partnerships with several other long time broadcast partners, including: Canal+ (France); Premiere (Germany); J Sports (Japan); ESPN Star Sports (Pan Asia), Solar Sports (Philippines); Sogecable (Spain); Videoland (Taiwan) and NTV (Turkey).
