A unique official 2006 World Cup Final match ball, signed by World Champions Italy, is to go under the auctioneer’s hammer at the ROTA charity’s auction in Doha, Qatar.

One of only twenty balls made for the 2006 World Cup Final in Berlin, this one was actually used during the historic match between France and Italy that was watched by millions worldwide this summer.

The ball is certified by FIFA, with the name of the stadium, the teams, the match date and the kick-off time as well as the signatures of the entire winning Italian team and reigning World Champions.

Speculation about the amount of money the ball is likely to raise for the charity is widespread, as it is believed that Italian football authorities are keen to acquire the ball to display to the jubilant nation forever.

Celebrities, sportsmen, politicians and VIPS will gather in Doha for a red-carpet affair to raise funds for ROTA’s various aid projects throughout Asia and the Middle East. A non-governmental organisation based in Qatar, Reach Out To Asia was founded under the patronage of The Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and is chaired by his sister, Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

With just weeks to go before Qatar stages the 15th Asian Games in Doha, this year’s Reach Out To Asia charity dinner will further help turn the global spotlight on Qatar.

ROTA operates under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Qatar Foundation is a private, chartered, non-profit organization founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. Guided by the principle that a nation's greatest resource is the potential of its people, the Foundation aims to develop international potential and synergies in these fields through a network of centres devoted to progressive education, research and community welfare.
