German commercial broadcaster RTL’s coverage of Formula One’s Brazilian grand prix attracted 14.8 million viewers and a 40 per cent audience share.
The race, the final Formula One race of the season and the final race in the career of Germany's seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, was the highest rated for RTL in five years.
Ratings have steadily declined since 2001 until picking up this year.
