Swiss IOC member Marc Hodler suffered a stroke at the weekend just days before his 88th birthday.
Hodler, president of the international ski federation from 1951 to 1998, plunged the IOC into a crisis when he revealed the way IOC members were being encouraged to vote for certain bidding cities by bribery ahead of the decision to name the host of the 2002 Games.
His revelations in 1998 sparked a huge internal probe and a major tightening of regulations for cities keen to host the Games.
