SPURS SCRAP 2012 STADIUM PLANS

English Premier League soccer club Tottenham Hotspur say they have scrapped plans of moving into the Olympic Stadium being built for the 2012 Games.

The north London club had been known to be keen on moving into the 80,000 venue once the Games were complete – but now say they have had a change of heart.

The stumbling block has been over plans to keep the athletics running track installed after the Games.

Spurs’ sporting director Damien Comolli said: “Clubs say moving to a ground with a track was a mistake. There is no way we are looking to move there.

“Tracks mean a poor atmosphere and a drop in attendances. We will continue to study various options available to us – including remaining at White Hart Lane.”
