HEAT IS ON FOR THE BAHAMAS

NBA side Miami Heat has signed a three-year deal to make the Islands of the Bahamas the club’s ‘preferred destination’.

The team, who return to the American Airlines Arena on October 31 for the season opener against the Chicago Bulls, will feature Bahamas’ themed nights at the arena, as well as branding at charitable events, basketball clinics, educational programmes and on the team's official website, HEAT.com.

Said Vernice Walkine, director-general of tourism for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism: “The Bahamas’ close proximity to Florida has made it a go-to destination for South Florida residents for many years. We plan to use our presence at the arena to bring Bahamian culture directly to consumers, highlighting all our new developments and providing a taste of what a real getaway in paradise is like.”
