PALMER EXTENDS ENDORSEMENT DEAL

He may be about to retire from tournament golf, but the man whose handshake with IMG founder Mark McCormack initiated modern day sports marketing still has commercial appeal.

And to prove it, golf legend Arnold Palmer, 77, has extended his endorsement deal with human resources firm Administaff.

Palmer, who has been the Administaff spokesperson since 2004, will continue to be the face of the brand through the company’s marketing programme.

The contract was finalised during the Administaff Small Business Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event in which Palmer competed. He did, however, have to pull out midway through the tournament due to a back injury.

After which he said: “I think this could be it. I'll play some father-son events, some charity events. And that's about it. Right now, there's just no thoughts of any more tournament golf.”
