A-LIST BACKING FOR GAMES

Organisers of the Special Olympics have recruited a number of Hollywood superstars as official spokespeople of the 2007 event.

Actors Colin Farrell and Eva Mendes join A-lister Bruce Willis in promoting the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games which take place in China.

Hong Kong pop star Karen Mok, and Chinese film stars Vicki Zhao and Xu Zheng will also fulfil similar roles ahead of the Games next October in Shanghai.

Already supporting the Games for those with intellectual disabilities are the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Muhammad Ali and the NBA’s Yao Ming.

Special Olympics president and CEO Bruce Pasternack said: “Their commitment to our movement will bring tremendous awareness around to world to the abilities and accomplishments of Special Olympics athletes and the nearly 100 million people worldwide with intellectual disabilities by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion.”
