SOUTH KOREA TO HOST FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX

Formula One Management agreed a contract with Park Joon-Young, governor of South Jeolla province, to stage a grand prix in Yeongam county, South Korea in 2010.

FOM in June chose Yeongam among bidders from seven nations to host a grand prix. The provincial government has now launched a public-private joint venture company called Korea Auto Valley Operation to prepare for the event.

The F1 Grand Prix will be the country's first international car racing event. Work to build the 5.45-kilometer (3.4 mile) track is scheduled to start next year for completion in 2009.
