US cable and satellite channel OLN, which acquired NHL TV rights last year, changed its name to Versus.
OLN acquired NHL rights in a deal worth $135 million over two years and options that could extend it to six. The channel also offers Arena Football League games, the America's Cup yacht race, bull riding, boxing, Davis Cup, pool and lacrosse.
The cable channel that began in 1995 as the Outdoor Life Network, mainly a fishing and hunting channel, changed its name to Versus to capture the essence of the channel’s brand now that it covers much more than outdoor sports.
