SLAM DUNK BY IEC IN CHINA

IEC in Sports, the Sweden-based agency, has been appointed to market and distribute the worldwide TV rights for basketball’s 2007 FIBA Stankovic Continental Champions Cup.

The contract is a sub-licensing deal from Global Link, the Chinese company which is the international TV rights holder for the competition.

The Cup will feature the top national teams from Asia, Africa, Oceania, the Americas and the two best-ranked European sides. The 2006 tournament brought in stars like the Chinese NBA star Yao Ming and the German star Dirk Nowitzki. The 2007 tournament will be held in Beijing, China in late July and early August. Production, hosted by CCTV, will include 16 cameras per match capturing all the action.

The Stankovic contract follows a series of recent TV property acquisitions by IEC in the Chinese market. In the summer IEC was appointed for TV-rights distribution of ATP Beijing and WTA Guangzhou.
