CBC WINS 2010 AND 2014 WORLD CUP RIGHTS

Canadian public-service broadcaster CBC acquired the TV right for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

The deal with FIFA, football’s world governing body, also includes the 2007 world under-20 championships, to be held in six Canadian cities, for which CBC will act as host broadcaster.

CBC, which beat a rival bid from a CTV-Rogers consortium, said Telelatino, a multicultural station with national distribution, will act as its broadcast partner.
