RED BULL LIKELY TO HAVE RENAULT ENGINES

Red Bull is close to agreeing a deal to be supplied with Renault engines. Renault team chief Flavio Briatore said “We are in negotiations but it's not done yet - done meaning when you sign the deal”. Both sides are looking to finalise the deal this week.

The Red Bull team currently use Ferrari engines, which Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey will look to replace with the Renault engines. The Ferrari engines are likely to move to their junior team Torro Rosso. The final say on the matter lies in the hands of Red Bull’s owner Dietrich Mateschitz and Torro Rosso co-owner Gerhard Berger.

Renault do not supply engines to any other team at the moment, but Briatore indicated that it is important smaller teams are given this type of help to increase competition levels within the championship.
