Formula 1’s Ferrari team has asked Bernie Ecclestone, the sport’s commercial director, to reinstate the San Marino Grand Prix in 2007.
The Grand Prix at the Imola track has been dropped from the 2007 calendar, along with the European Grand Prix in Germany, reducing the season to 17 races.
Ferrari team president Luca di Montezemolo said it is very important for the team that Imola, which is the closest Grand Prix circuit to Ferrari's headquarters, remains a Grand Prix venue. He said he would also appeal to the Italian Prime Minister to help with economic investment and modernisation of the circuit.
