Many of the world’s most respected sports security specialists will share their insight and experience at the Summit which has become established as the world leader in its specialist field.
The Summit will again be held at London’s premier venue, The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster. This year’s programme reflects the feedback from hundreds of delegates, speakers and exhibitors at the 2006 event.
It has been structured to present leading-edge thinking, strategy development, best practice and technological development in a real-world context by focussing, where possible, on event case studies.
Among the organisations and events invited to participate are NASCAR, FIFA World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup, Ryder Cup 2006, and UEFA Euro 2008.
In addition to the bidding city focus, International Sports Security Summit 2007 will include sessions highlighting lessons in security from the United States, examine security planning and operations in a new-build facility and deliver a step by step guide to planning and developing a security programme.
This year’s Summit will see two new additions to the conference programme. For the first time the Summit will include a set-piece debate session during which the audience will be encouraged to take part alongside expert speakers. The issue to be tackled is “Technology and the Human Factor – Where Does The Balance Lie?”
The Summit will then close with a Question Time session for which delegates will be invited to pre-submit written questions to fuel in-depth discussion of some of the Summit’s key themes.
Nigel Rushman, Managing Director of organisers Rushmans Ltd, said:
“In formulating the programme for 2007 we have listened to what previous delegates have had to say and that is reflected in our focus. Our aim is to deliver truly beneficial knowledge to all those whose roles require them to understand the security imperative around sports events and the practical and managerial steps to be taken to meet the security challenge.”
Last year’s Summit was attended by more than 200 delegates from more than 30 countries. They represented security services, national and local government, national and international sports federations, clubs, facilities, event management companies and others.
“Security remains a critical factor in the organisation of every sports event and individuals in many different areas of the management process require an understanding of the issues and solutions and how they impact on the overall running of an event.
“International Sports Security Summit 2007 aims to deliver the insight and knowledge required by all stakeholders to ensure the security of athletes, spectators, VIP guests, the media and others attending events,” Nigel Rushman said.
The Summit’s conference programme is supported by a comprehensive exhibition of relevant products, services and technologies.
