Organisers of next year’s women’s soccer World Cup have confirmed Shanghai will host both the opening ceremony and final.
The Hongkou Stadium will be the start and finish venue for the competition which kicks-off in China next September.
The 35,000-seater venue will be supplemented by matches in Tianjin, Wuhan, Chengdu and Hangzhou.
Sixteen teams will compete in the event – the final qualifying matches for which are taking place in the coming weeks.
