KING DELIGHT AT USTA VENUE NAMING

The US Tennis Association has turned its back on potentially millions of dollars and opted not to sell the naming rights to its new National Tennis Centre.

Instead it has named the facility after the legendary Billie Jean King, who was guest of honour at the unveiling ceremony.

The new centre will be known as the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre and sit alongside the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

King said: “I think the USTA could have made millions from selling the naming rights – maybe as much as $6m. So it’s an incredible honour.”
