Formula One chiefs have confirmed next season’s US Grand Prix will take place on June 17 – news which follows hot on the heels of a one-year extension to stage the race.

Amid continuing concerns the US race may be short-lived following last week’s announcement, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Joie Chitwood confirmed the race date.

Circuit chief executive Tony George penned a $20m one-year agreement claiming the short-term deal was because of the expiry next year of the Concorde Agreement which has traditional regulated Formula One.
