ROONEY THREATENS COMMERCIAL PULL-OUT

England soccer ace Wayne Rooney has reportedly threatened to refuse the Football Association the right to market his image in commercial projects unless they reconsider a ban which will rule him out of three games later this month.

The Manchester United striker’s agent was left fuming after a red card during a pre-season friendly with the FA saying he must serve a suspension now the Premiership season is underway.

But the agent, Paul Stretford, says unless the FA reconsider Rooney will prohibit them from using his name and image in their marketing campaigns.

With David Beckham’s future in the national squad in doubt, Rooney is the side’s most famous and most marketable commodity.
Stretford is reported as saying: “While he will continue if selected to play for his country with pride and commitment, he is considering withdrawing his support for the FA's commercial programme.”
