ITALIAN CLUB REGGINA TO STAY IN SERIE A

Tagged in &

The Italian Football Federation’s match-fixing tribunal ruled that Reggina could remain in Serie A but will start the season with a 15-point deduction.

Reggina is the fifth Serie A club to have been found guilty of match-fixing. Football federation prosecutor Stefano Palazzi had pushed for Reggina to be relegated to Serie B and docked 15 points.

The tribunal also ruled that Serie B side Arezzo would be docked nine points at the start the season.

Meanwhile the other four clubs implicated, Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina lodged a second round of appeals against their sentences, which were reduced in a first appeal. The Italian Olympic Committee's conciliation court will meet on Friday to rule on Juve's second appeal.
